Ramen Hiroshi: Try the Octopus Balls or Chicken Karaage

June 30, 2015 | sack

Ramen Hiroshi only recently debuted in Walnut Creek, but it's already won over a large group of fans thanks to its inventive take on traditional Japanese fare. Before you dive right into the namesake ramen, most Yelpers recommend easing into your meal with the eatery's best appetizer, the chicken karaage. Chefs recreate the American South's fried chicken with a Japanese twist, much to the delight of customers. The octopus balls dusted with seaweed powder, bonito flakes, and red ginger are another favorite, so order a round if you're feeling adventurous.

Don't fill up on the starters, though, because Ramen Hiroshi's signature Japanese soups still await. Try the tantanmen if you're not sure where your tastes fall. It's by far the most popular version of ramen on the menu, a creamy soup crafted from a chicken and sesame base and teeming with mushrooms, fiery ground pork, and a slew of veggies.
