Admire the Beauty of the Night Sky at the Chabot Space & Science Center

April 26, 2016 | sack

There are many advantages to living in the Bay Area, but one of the drawbacks can be the difficult stargazing conditions. The combination of city lights and the haze make it difficult to get a clear view of the night sky, but at Chabot Space & Science Center in Oakland, amateur astronomers and families alike can learn more about space, stars, and the planets above.

Aside from the usual observatories and planetarium shows, the museum also has a rotating slate of exhibits, including educational displays on astronaut training, climate change, and the intersections between art and science. Kids of all ages can enjoy the LEGO laboratory engineering area or IMAX features on everything from Mars exploration to Pink Floyd laser light shows. The Chabot also hosts events for members, like stargazing hikes, movie nights, special lectures, and Sci-Fi quiz nights. Check the online calendar for details.
