Looking to celebrate the local businesses in the Oakland area? On Thursday, May 12 the Oakland Museum will host the 10th Annual Oakland Indie Awards. The event, which honors local businesses, artists, entrepreneurs and community figures who positively impact the area’s economy, environment, and arts and culture scene, has become a fixture on many a social calendar in the Bay Area.

While it is important to recognize local artists, merchants, and entrepreneurs, the Indie Awards ceremony is also much more than just a recitation of nominees and award-winners. You can catch live music and DJ sets, enjoy a variety of free local foods and beverages, check out art demonstrations, and socialize with friends and neighbors while you’re here. There’s also a marketplace where you can pick up wares from local artists, craftspeople, and inventors.

Tickets are $10 in advance or $15 at the door.
