Uncover San Francisco’s Fascinating Past With Live Archaeology Digs Until October 15

July 30, 2016 | sack

Children grow up with wild imaginations, turning average mysteries into exciting adventures. In the City of San Francisco, children are encouraged to explore these mysteries and thrills through weekly live archaeology digs.
The Presidio Trust, an innovative federal agency dedicated to saving the Presidio and transforming it into a new kind of national park, is offering children and adults the opportunity to be a part of a historic and scientific cause. Presidio archaeologists are working on a long-term research project to excavate El Presidio de San Francisco, the Spanish-colonial archaeological site buried just below the ground in front of the Presidio Officers’ Club. Guests will witness archaeology in action and are encouraged to stop by to check out our most recent findings and ask questions.
The live archaeology digs are happening at San Francisco’s Archaeology Field Station across from the Presidio Officers’ Club every Friday and Saturday until October 15, 2016. The programs are absolutely free, but those wishing to participate are encouraged to RSVP online. The programs last from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.
