Enjoy the Fun Ambiance and Tasty Drinks at The Kon-Tiki

Once glance at the exterior of The Kon-Tiki will give you a pretty good sense of the fun that’s to be had inside. It is situated on the corner of Webster and 14th Street in downtown Oakland, and has a Polynesian mask on their massive wood door that practically calls you to enter. The interior doesn’t disappoint either, with thatched straw awnings over the bar and tables, and the distinct island vibe unique to a tiki bar.

The theme is carried through the food and drink selection, with a variety of sharable plates and entrees. If you go with a crowd, try The Kon-Tiki Pupu Platter with a rotating sample of everything their menu has to offer. They have beer and wine, but when in a tiki bar, drink tiki drinks. Their menu has illustrations of each drink and all its contents, and each one is fantastically kitschy and fun. The Kon-Tiki also has weekly events like tarot card readings and Ohana night to don your finest Hawaiian garb.
