Try Traditional Peruvian Drinks at Barranco

November 30, 2018 | sack

Take a culinary journey to the picturesque coastal neighborhood outside Lima when you visit Barranco Cocina Peruana. The way to start your meal in this relaxed eatery is with a Pisco Sour, a traditional Peruvian drink handcrafted at their cozy bar.

The delectable bites just keep coming from there. Start with a ceviche of fresh fish, skewered street food anticuchos, or their handmade chicharonnes of either chicken or calamari. Main courses include some dishes you might be familiar with, like lomo saltado, and a few that are less well-known. Try the arroz con mariscos for Peru’s take on Spanish paella, or one of their fish preparations with traditional sides.

The atmosphere is casual and open, and time spent with just cocktails or wine and a few of the starters if well worth the visit. Find Barranco on Mt. Diablo Boulevard in the business section near Lafayette Circle. Barranco is closed on Mondays, and also closes mid-afternoon between lunch and dinner service.
