The Door Restaurant: Step Into Flavor

April 9, 2013 | sack

This place has a very fitting name – when you step through the portcullis, you’ll be in a whole new world. Of all of Walnut Creek’s fine restaurants, this one might have the best interior design, with a lush sensibility that makes it a very impressive place to take a date. The food is equally good, with chef Daniel Sudar producing spectacular fusion dishes that have diners raving. Some offerings that draw praise include the fried asparagus dusted with curry, the roast duck served on succulent steamed buns, and the mustard shrimp. For a tapas-style experience, the “Street Bites” menu is great for sampling the diverse flavors that come out of the kitchen. Service is generally good, with some people reporting delays on food coming out of the kitchen. Eaters on a budget stop by for happy hour, where you can get great appetizers for under five bucks and drink specials as well.
