Lesher Center for the Arts

Locals have been flocking to the Lesher Center for the Arts since its opening in 1990, and for good reason. First established in 1967 as the Nuthouse, a performance space in the old Walnut Growers Warehouse, it drew significant support from the community and outgrew the space rapidly. This is a top-flight arts center that spares no expense in its programming, featuring local artists as well as figures from all around the world. Three spaces host a variety of programs, from big shows in the Hoffman Theatre to intimate evenings in the black-box Knight Stage. The annual Chevron Family Theater Festival hosts a wide variety of all-ages performances at the very affordable price of $5 a ticket. If you’re looking for some dinner before your show, the Center is surrounded by a number of the city’s best restaurants. Finally, they also run a number of educational programs, including the Young Rep series.
