Hike Along the Mountains on the San Andreas Lake Trail
August 22, 2016 | sack
Whether you are a jogger, recreational cyclist, or just out for a leisurely stroll, the San Andreas Lake Trail is a valuable public resource for San Bruno residents. Running adjacent to the 280, the trail spans 2.5 miles on its own, and links up to the more challenging Sawyer Camp Recreational Trail for those interested in a longer trek.
The trail itself is paved and mostly uncovered, running directly alongside the 280 at points. To the west, the trail provides beautiful views of San Andreas Lake, as well as sunsets over Sweeney Ridge and the Montara Mountain. There are three easy places to access the trail via Skyline Boulevard (where it intersects with Hillcrest, Larkspur, and San Bruno), and the relatively gentle grade makes it easily traversable for most visitors. The trail is free and open to the public from sun up to sun down, but be aware that dogs are not allowed.
