It’s well known that kids who participate in the theater stay active, learn discipline and teamwork, and gain confidence that that they can apply to the rest of their lives. San Jose Children’s Musical Theater offers those kinds of experiences to local kids. It’s one of the largest and oldest programs of its kind, dedicated to training and in both the art and labor of putting on a show in an atmosphere where everyone is welcome to participate.

In fact, it’s a policy at SJCMT that everyone who auditions will be cast in a show, which guarantees opportunities to students at every level of talent and ability. The theater’s classes are separated by age, with troupes for elementary through middle school, high school through college and even alumni, so you can also be sure that the material and social dynamics will be age-appropriate. From after-school programs to summer camps to daylong workshops, there are sessions available to fit most schedules.
