Well, not exactly: each June, the museum hosts a large festival celebrating various elements of the state's diverse array of cultures. It's a fun opportunity to encounter some of the best things about Texas up close.
During the rest of the year, the Institute serves as a local museum featuring many historically significant treasures in its permanent collection. Bring the entire family for an interesting, fun, and educational look at the state's history.

There are few things that can make a human being feel small like the majestic creations of Mother Nature. The insanely long process of time and pressure required to create some of our nation’s geological masterpieces is humbling to say the least. One of Texas’s most lovely landmarks is Enchanted Rock, an enormous dome of pink granite that rises from the Llano Uplift. Humans have been visiting this rock for over eleven thousand years, and the Native Americans believed it had mystical properties. Now designated a state historic landmark, the dome and the parkland around it have become a popular destination for lovers of the outdoors. Enchanted Rock is a great place for hiking and backpacking, with a number of trails leading up to the summit, where a spectacular view awaits you. The one downside is that there can be a gigantic wait on busy days to be let into the park, so bring a book or something to do to pass the time.
