Italy by Way of Milwaukee: Festa Italiana, the Largest Event of Its Kind in the US, Returns July 22-24!

July 21, 2016 | wimmer

Tutti Italiani (“everyone’s Italian”) at Festa Italiana! An annual Milwaukee tradition since 1978, this Italian festival—the largest of its kind in the country—returns to Henry W. Maier Festival Park on July 22. The goal of the event, as in years past, is to promote and preserve Italian culture here in America.

The three-day-long event boasts a jam-packed schedule, promising everything from entertainment and games to shopping and contests. Those with a competitive side can join in on a game of bocce or futsal—even take part in a cannoli-eating contest! Kids can enjoy a pizza-making contest, carnival rides and games, and a parade starring none other than Pinocchio! Meanwhile, live music and dance will entertain attendees of all ages. Of course, no Italian festival would be complete without food, and Festa Italiana will feature the culinary delights of more than 30 vendors. Arrive hungry to sample pizza, pasta, calamari, Italian sweets, and everything in between!

Be sure to stick around for the fireworks displays, which will light up the night sky all three nights of the event!
