Celebrate Celtic Culture at the 2017 Irish Fest near Wimmer Communities

August 16, 2017 | wimmer

Irish culture involves a lot more than just Guinness and St. Paddy's Day parades. Irish Fest in Milwaukee is one of the biggest celebrations of Irish culture in the world, so it's the perfect place to learn all about the lesser-known aspects of the Emerald Isle. And since it's happening not far from Wimmer Communities at the Henry Maier Festival Grounds on the Lakefront, you're in a prime position to participate.

The festival takes over the park from August 17th to the 20th, offering many different ways to explore Irish culture. Head to the Cultural Village for a glimpse at Irish art, including paintings of the Irish landscape, portraits of Irish musicians, and depictions of Irish song in paint. Or check out the stages nearby, where you can actually listen to those Irish melodies courtesy of Celtic bands. Traditional food and drink, activities geared toward kids, and Irish sports (think hurling) round out the lineup of fun at the 2017 Irish Fest. General admission tickets start at $5 for Thursday admission.
