13 Reasons Why You’ll Absolutely Love Living in Milwaukee

1. Great food

Live in a city your taste buds will thank you for. For the casual diner or the culinary connoisseur, the Milwaukee area has plenty of great restaurants and cafes! One of our favorites is Jimmy’s Grotto in Waukesha. If you love pizza, you’ll love Jimmy’s Ponza Rottas.

2. Art

Our cities are full of creativity. Located on Milwaukee’s lakefront, the stunning Calatrava-designed Milwaukee Art Museum is full of classical masterpieces and modern innovation.

Along with the art museum, there are galleries throughout the downtown, street fairs and church festivals in the summer, and the Milwaukee Film Festival for film enthusiasts, boasting renowned talent like Martin Starr of HBO’s Silicon Valley.

The Milwaukee Ballet, Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, Pabst Theater, and Marcus Center for the Performing Arts offer many other opportunities to experience phenomenal art.

3. Music Scene

While Music is an art, this one deserves its own category for Milwaukee. Home to one of the world’s largest Music Festivals, Milwaukee sees thousands of fans gather to enjoy music, food, friendship, and beer.  Summerfest is a nearly 2-week long event starting in late June that has featured headliners such as Paramore, Luke Bryan, Linkin Park, The Rolling Stones and more.

4. The State Fair 

 West Allis is home to the State Fair grounds, where you can enjoy the best of Wisconsin. From cheese curds and cream puffs, nobody does food like Wisconsin. Top it off with some of the best local talent hitting the stages as well as cow shows, pig shows, and more.

5. Craft Breweries

Milwaukee is known for beer, and with a thriving industry, more and more craft breweries are hitting the scene, bringing new personalities with it. Some of the hottest new breweries include: Raised Grain (The beer is carefully crafted by two doctors and is rapidly expanding!), City Lights Brewing, Good City Brewing, and Third Space Brewing.

6. Transportation

With several methods of getting around, there’s no need to worry if you don’t have a car. Several of our properties are conveniently located right on bus lines! There are also plenty of Uber drivers for your night out on the town. And if you’re a fan of biking, some cities offer bike share programs!

7. Sports teams

From the Brewers to the Admirals, Milwaukee is home to a few professional sports teams. It’s also turned out athletes like JJ Watt.

We also have some top notch Collegiate teams including Marquette University and University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

8. Celebration of cultures

With a diverse population, celebrations of a variety of heritages are showcased throughout the year. Indian Summer, German Fest, Italian Fest, and the Holiday Folk Fair – just to name a few. There is also an Italian Community Center in the heart of downtown Milwaukee. Rich culture is one of the many perks of the area!

9. Entertainment 

No shortage of malls, movie theaters, or entertainment here! For all the movie lovers, you can catch one on the Ultrascreen at a Marcus Theater. Even better, on Tuesdays, everyone gets in for only $5! Thursdays are also student nights, where anyone with a valid student ID gets in for $5!

Enjoy golfing in the summer? Some of the suburbs boast gorgeous golf courses. Our Club at Brookfield Hills property is even located right next to one, so you can overlook those stellar fairways year round. Oh, and did we mention, your lease at Club at Brookfield Hills and Georgetown Square includes free golf passes?

10. Fantastic School Districts 

Across multiple sources, Elmbrook School District has boasted phenomenal scores, including being ranked 2nd out of 428 school districts! Other notable districts making the top 50 List are: Greendale, Pewaukee, Menomonee Falls, Oak Creek-Franklin Join School District, and Greenfield.

11. Places to visit 

The historic Third Ward features many notable shops and sites, including Milwaukee Public Market, Harley Davidson Museum, and Skylight Music Theater.

Make sure to check out the Milwaukee Public Museum as well, featuring The Streets of Old Milwaukee.

You can also visit and tour the Pabst Mansion to see where the Pabst legendary Frederick Pabst, brewer extraordinaire lived.

Some other notable places: The Basilica of St. Josephat, North Point Lighthouse, Boerner Botanical Gardens, Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist, Tripoli Shrine Center, and Miller Park.

12. Nature

With a variety of unique parks, trails, and preserves, our cities don’t lack the glory of nature.

Some of the most notable parks are: Valley View Park in New Berlin, Minooka Park and Mitchell Park in Brookfield,  Whitnall Park, and Wehr Nature Center in Hales Corners.

Aside from Lake Michigan, there are plenty of lakes to visit as well.  And if you’re interested in living on a lake, check out Oakton Beach on beautiful Pewaukee Lake.

13. Business is On the Rise

The Milwaukee area is known for large companies getting their start here, like Harley-Davidson, Pabst Brewery, Marcus Corporation, Kohl’s Department Stores, and Cousins Subs.

Other major companies have also set up headquarters in the area, including Quad Graphics, GE Healthcare, and the coveted Foxconn.

Milwaukee is also a thriving place for entrepreneurs and startups. With collaborative work spaces and creative minds, the area is full of potential.
