Pundt Park: Outdoor Fun and Activities for the Whole Family

Located off of Spring Creek Drive and part of the Spring Creek Greenway, the sprawling 380-acre spread of Pundt Park is the perfect venue for your outdoor activities of choice. Saddle up to traverse the park's many equestrian trails, or lace up your hiking boots and hit the 10-mile trail linking Pundt Park to the Stahl Preserve and the Jesse H. Jones Park and Nature Centre. If you prefer to kick back on a lazy summer day, pack up a basket and post up along the picnic loop with 10 tables, two covered pavilions, and convenient restrooms nearby.

Pundt Park’s two lakes are ideal for fishing with white bass and crappie ready for catching in winter and year round catfish, but guests should keep in mind that swimming, boating, canoeing, and kayaking are prohibited.

Pundt Park is open 8 a.m. to dusk to year-round.

Collins Park: A Gorgeous Park Along Cypress Creek

Collins Park is situated on 55 acres along Cypress Creek. It’s a great place to unwind with some outdoor activities, whether you’re into volleyball, soccer, baseball or fishing.

The park boasts five lighted softball fields, four lighted baseball fields, a soccer field, a lighted basketball pavilion and a sand volleyball court. The little ones will likely enjoy the two playgrounds at the park where they can frolic to their heart’s content. The amphitheatre plays host to a variety of fun events and the skate park is a great place for kids to practice their skateboard moves. You can put on your hiking shoes and head to the nature trail for a stress-reducing stroll in a great setting.

An old tobacco barn has been re-purposed to become the Dosey Doe, a great place for food, music, and fun near Avana Six Pines. When you come in, you’ll immediately be taken away by the large space. The Big Barn has great acoustics – perfect for listening to music! But first, have a seat and a meal. The chef at the Dosey Doe believes in cooking everything from scratch, using only the freshest local ingredients. Check out the Blue Plate Specials like grilled rib-eye or bacon wrapped quail. The everyday entrees like the “Ginormous” chicken fried steak with garlic potatoes and gravy will satisfy any appetite. And then, there’s the music! Wimberly Valley wines are sold in better stores around the area, but the winery itself makes a great spot for a trip away from Avana Six Pines.
