The Boiling Crab: Backyard Crab Fest

A Southern-style backyard crab fest comes to Santa Ana thanks to The Boiling Crab. Unlike your standard seafood restaurant, The Boiling Crab offers a super fun environment along with its fresh and flavorful seafood fare. This is a place for friends and family to have fun together while also feeding their faces with all this good grub. So much Cajun flavor runs through The Boiling Crab you may think you’re having a meal somewhere in the deep south. Seafood is seasoned in a bag to ensure a total coating of flavors and brought to your table that way to preserve all the tasty goodness. The Boiling Crab serves just about every type of seafood imaginable, including lobster, crawfish, shrimp, clams, mussels, and of course, crab. There many spice levels to choose from, as well as flavorings, which include raging Cajun, lemon pepper, garlic, or a mix of all three.

Peter’s Gourmade Grill: Burger Bests

Peter’s Gourmade Grill has come a long way since its previous location inside a Valero gas station on the edge of Tustin. Word of mouth and a couple excellent write-ups in local Orange County papers propelled the restaurant to success and in early 2012 it moved to the corner of McFadden and Newport Avenues. Stop into the new location for an ABC Burger—the letters stand for avocado, bacon, cheddar—or the Mushroom Swiss Bacon Burger, two of the best in the OC. The Greek fries are often the subject of rave reviews as well. Those less inclined to enjoy a burger can dig into a basil chicken sandwich or a gyro and even vegetarians will enjoy a veggie burger homemade from Peter’s own recipe. Seating is limited, especially as this spot rockets upward in popularity, but the service is good (you can even text in an order) and the food is definitely worth the reasonable price.

Happy 4th of July!

On this 4th of July, we hope you take time to relax and celebrate America's freedom with close friends and loved ones. Happy Independence Day, USA!

The Winery: An Upscale Wine Bar in Tustin, California

Per its name, The Winery is a combination between a wine bar and an upscale restaurant with a relaxed but sophisticated ambience. The interior here is lovely with private rooms available at request. The YG’s Alsatian “Pizza”, made with crème fraîche, Gruyère, applewood smoked bacon, and onions, is a delicious appetizer, though heavy for a flatbread. A sommelier is available to recommend wines to pair with it and every other item on the menu, and the wine selection is about as extensive as befits a restaurant named for its fully-stocked bar. The duck breast and seared Alaskan halibut are both well-regarded entrees. The Tahitian vanilla bean crème brulee makes for a great conclusion to a meal!
