A Mother-Daugher Duo Teaches Dedham About Art at K and L Ceramics
May 14, 2015 | greystar
K and L Ceramics evolved naturally from a mother-daughter duo's shared love of art. It began with the elder part of the pair taking a weekly ceramics class—a hobby she picked up from her own mother, an artist. Daughter Katharine (also known as the "K" in "K and L") quickly decided she wanted to be a part of what her mom was doing. So she started getting her hands dirty in ceramics classes at school, workshops around her town, and, eventually, university-level classes at Emmanuel College and the School of the Museum of the Fine arts, both in Boston.
After receiving encouragement from one of her instructors, Katharine decided to open her own ceramics studio in Dedham—and brought her art-loving mom along for the ride. Together, the duo holds classes throughout the week that teach novices how to paint the ceramic pieces of their choosing. Simply pick a piece and get to work using the provided paints and glazes.
