How To Get Around Without Metrorail On Wednesday

You've probably heard by now that Metrorail is shutting down at midnight, and will remain closed until Thursday at 5 a.m. for emergency inspections.

Federal employees will be able to take unscheduled leave or telecommute and some charter schools will be closed, but D.C. government and D.C. Public Schools remain open, as do countless other businesses. So the question is: how are you going to get where you need to go?

Palisades Recreation Center: A D.C. Community Center

Located across from the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal National Park, the Palisades Recreation Center has everything that a busy community needs. If you’re into sports, pick one! There’s a softball field, basketball court, soccer field and tennis court. There’s also a terrific playground for the little ones. In the center you’ll find a computer room and a weight room, to exercise your body and mind, as well as a multi-purpose room for the community’s use. Lucky local kids can make use of sports classes, play programs, teen club, summer camps and an after school homework help program. And don’t miss the special events like Films with Friends, under the stars!

Arts in Your Community

Thanks to the folks at WHUT.org I have some really cool art info to share with you.

The DC Metro Area — the place for politics, policy, and power. Yet , also the place for the Strathmore, Artomatic, Twins Jazz Club, Joe’s Movement Emporium and Synetic Theatre.
Did you know our area has 200 or more theatre performances on any given night? Policy and politics may be a local mainstay, but so is the kind of cultural fare you find at places like Wolf Trap, Atlas Theatre, the Phillips Collection, and the Bethesda Blues & Jazz club. WHUT’s new show is about discovering and showcasing all the great things to do in the DMV beyond politics. It’s Art in your community. It’s Artico on WHUT.
