The history of human flight abounds at Washington's National Air and Space Museum. Washington D.C. is known as a city that celebrates the history of important events and memorializes our nation’s leaders — yet amidst all the grand remembrance is The Old Stone House, one of the oldest known structures in the Capital. The house is maintained by the National Park Service, and preserves the history and daily lives of 18th century Americans. Many passersby assume it is a private residence, but it is free and open to the public. It’s a quick visit, but a nice break from the trendy Georgetown shops. There is a small gift shop, and the adjoining garden is an elegant setting for photo shoots or a quiet moment.
