Green Eggs: A Friend of the Earth

No, Dr. Seuss doesn't live here. But Green Eggs means a tasty, eco-conscious dining experience. With locations in South Philly and Northern Liberties, this cozy little cafe creates a warm atmosphere with its friendly waitstaff. The morning fare will appeal to vegetarians and breakfast buffs alike: dishes like Philly Style Eggs Benedict, served on a toasted pretzel roll with cream cheese, and the Creme Brulee French Toast run from $8 – $10. Perhaps best of all, the menu is stuffed with local vegetables and sprinkled with herbs grown on the cafe’s rooftop garden. The lunch menu is also reasonably priced and is full of comforting sandwiches and fresh salads. They don't take reservations, so come early and bring your wallet – cash only!

Philadelphia 76ers: Poised For Greatness

With three playoff berths in the last four seasons, the Philadelphia 76ers have had solid showings recently, and they're ready to carry that success further into the postseason. Last year's arrival of Doug Collins as head coach gave the team a much needed boost. His leadership helped add another fourteen wins to the previous season. Collins has a team of new and veteran talents to nurture. Jrue Holiday enters his third season as one of the most exciting players on the roster. Louis Williams, Thad Young, and Andre Igoudala also promise to keep up the team's high-octane attack. Philadelphia also still has one of the top power forwards in Elton Brand. This is a team ready to capitalize on the consistent promise shown in previous years. They want more than just a first round playoff exit. This season might be their breakout year.

January Events in Philadelphia

Looking for something to do? This January, Philadelphia hosts some exciting events! Check out these four:

Mummer's Parade, January 1, 2012

A Philadelphia tradition, old men in elaborate costumes sit in small go-karts and whiz around the streets along with bands and other festivities. It's supposed to be linked to Celtic customs, but mostly it's a raucous good time.

Story Slam: Daily Grind at World Cafe Live, January 9, 2012

In the new year, make your new favorite hang out the Story Slams at World Cafe Live and L'Etage. Twice every month real people pour their hearts out about a selected theme. You can also compete with your own five minute tale of humorous woe.

City Food Tours, ongoing

Philly's foodie scene is thriving and City Food Tours is offering a fun, social way of experiencing it through restaurant crawls. Look out for special tours like Craft Beer and Artisanal Cheese or Decadent Gourmet.

Jerry Seinfeld at the Academy of Music, January 14, 2012

The original funny man comes to the Academy to talk about nothing. Really. But he'll probably include a few topical quips about the city and his act's guaranteed to be a good time!

Penn Museum: From Around the World

Founded in 1887, The University of Pennsylvania Museum of Archeology and Anthropology has had over 100 years to amass a collection.
