BJ’s Restaurant & Brewhouse: A Webster Brewpub

Webster locals looking for a draught of exceptional beer and a solid meal have been flocking to BJ’s for years, and for good reason. This small chain started in 1978 in California and has spread throughout the United States on the strength of its food and atmosphere. The key to BJ’s success is their exceptional deep dish pizza. Made Chicago-style, these pizza pies are dense, filling and flavorful.

Some of the more popular combinations include the Pepperoni Extreme, featuring BJ’s signature five cheese blend and the Sweet Pig with pineapple and oven-roasted ham. The menu goes way beyond pizza, though, with other high-quality offerings including the baby back ribs and the overstuffed burgers. As you’d expect from the restaurant’s name, they also brew their own beer, which is quite good. The Oasis amber is the pick to sample for first-timers, but just about everything is worth trying.

King’s BBQ: La Porte BBQ

Smoked meat is a favorite in Texas, and King’s BBQ is a La Porte spot where you can enjoy it near Plaza at San Jacinto. The menu here might be termed "well-edited," and it focuses almost entirely on barbecue. On it you'll find barbecue options like Smoked Brisket, Turkey, Link Sausage, Chopped Beef, Pulled Pork, Chicken and Pork Ribs.

King's BBQ also serves a number of hearty steaks, with choices ranging from Ribeyes and T-Bones from 8-ounce size to 14-ounces. Sides include Mac & Cheese, Green Beans, Rice, Onion Rings, and Coleslaw. Loaded Baked Potatoes can come with your choice of fillings like cheese, brisket and pork.

Mainly Drinks: Cocktails and Tasty Cuisine in La Porte

Sure, it may be that La Porte's Mainly drinks makes visitors think that they serve, well, mainly drinks. But this local restaurant also offers a selection of refined New American cuisine that draws visitors for more than just the drinks.

On the menu, you'll find options like a Gourmet Cheese Plate with crostini, Seafood Stuffed Mushrooms in herb butter, or Smothered Cajun Fries with crawfish, shrimp & lobster. The place also serves dishes like a well-regarded Seafood Gumbo and a Warm Spinach Salad with warm bacon vinaigrette. Burgers, sandwiches, and flatbreads are also on the menu.

If a full entrée suits your appetite, you can feast on dishes like Pepita Crusted Chicken Fried Steak, Fish Tacos with green tomato salsa, Seafood Pasta with chipotle cream sauce, Blackened Red Snapper with mango relish, or Pan Seared Ribeye with chef’s sauce. Note that the menu changes periodically to highlight fresh ingredients.

Thai Seafood Restaurant: An Array of Flavors

The Thai Seafood Restaurant, located not far from Plaza at San Jacinto in Webster, serves up fresh seafood cooked with the fragrant herbs and spices of Thai cuisine. The ambiance at this restaurant is charming and elegant and the service is attentive.

Start off with a steaming bowl of Tom Yum Soup, the satisfying melding of herbs, meat, fish and veggies that’s the perfect precursor to a delectable meal. Follow it up with some super-fresh fish cooked in a kaleidoscope of styles. Other authentic dishes of the region include Pad Thai, a yummy combination of noodles, veggies, peanuts and meat, and Pad Kee Mao – also known as Drunken Noodles – with rice noodles, egg, peppers and veggies, stewed in a fiery sauce.

Thai Seafood Restaurant is closed on Mondays, but open for lunch and dinner the rest of the week.

Chuy’s: Tasty Tex-Mex Fare in Webster, Texas

Take your taste buds south of the border with a trip to Chuy’s, where excellent Tex-Mex food and a festive atmosphere guarantee a good time. Start off with some Chile Con Queso with crispy chips or a quesadilla with guacamole and salsa. Move on to tasty entrées like Chile Rellenos with fire-roasted, cheese-filled, deep-fried Anaheim peppers; a Burrito filled with seasoned ground sirloin; Flautas with hand-pulled chicken; or Chicka-Chicka Boom-Boom Enchiladas with Chuy's famous Boom-Boom sauce. Michiru Sushi: Ocean Fresh Sushi in Webster

This exceptional Webster eatery boasts a wide selection of traditional Japanese nigiri and rolls, but ups the ante with a well-curated menu of fusion dishes that delight taste buds. Located in an out of the way strip mall off of the NASA Bypass, Michiru Sushi is somewhat hard to find but worth the effort.

The visual presentation of the food here is one of the highlights – everything comes out of the kitchen and sushi bar looking magazine-perfect. Some favorite rolls that locals recommend include the sweet potato roll, tempura-fried and perfectly seasoned, as well as the delicious spicy salmon roll. On the rest of the menu, some must-try dishes include the Szechuan-style peppercorn beef, sautéed in a seriously tangy hot sauce that will stick with you, as well as the fruity Grand Marnier prawns.

Perry’s Steakhouse & Grille: Clear Lake Steaks

There's no shortage of steakhouses in Texas, so it takes a lot of effort to stand out from the crowd. Perry’s Steakhouse & Grille manages it with a focus on high-quality ingredients and excellent service. Since opening in 1993, they’ve won raves from diners and press alike, and one meal here might make you a fan.

Start your dining experience with one of their famous appetizers – the prime beef carpaccio is a tremendous take on the rich flavors of beef, and the iced seafood tower is a lavish take on a steakhouse classic. Of course, the real draw here is the expertly-seared steak, and it won’t disappoint. Some cuts that come highly recommended include the bone-in New York strip and the filet mignon. But, surprisingly, their most famous dish isn’t beef at all, but pork. Perry’s signature pork chop is cured, roasted, slow-smoked and caramelized before being carved tableside. It earns big praise from regular diners.
