Soak Up Some Sunshine at Texas Avenue Park

Located in Webster, the Texas Avenue Park creates a safe and beautiful area with activities for residents of all ages. With a track to walk around, a baseball field, a covered basketball field, tennis courts, and a softball field, this public park has something for everyone.

For nature lovers, there’s a wooded area of the park that is perfect for exploring on a warm spring day. Locals rave about the playground and the baseball-themed splash pad. (You might have a rough time dragging your kids away!) Texas Avenue Park also has a covered picnic pavilion that you can reserve for parties and other celebratory events.

Texas Avenue Park is open daily from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. Restrooms are located on-site.

Wind Down At Walnut Park in Webster

If you’re looking for a quiet, relaxing day in the park, your search is over. Walnut Park is tucked away in the beautiful residential area of Webster. The park contains two playgrounds, a jogging track, a gazebo, and a small pavilion area with a few picnic tables. Among all of these amenities, locals tend to rave about the jogging track the most. This track is a soft asphalt material that differs from the ones you’ll find in any other park. Plus, there are many trees along the path so it provides plenty of shade for those warm summer days.

This is a small and quaint park, so there aren’t any restrooms or water fountains on-site. But as a perk, the park is rarely crowded! If you’re looking for a quiet day in a nice little neighborhood, this is the place to be.

Angelo’s Pizza & Pasta: Classic Pasta Dishes and More

Gotta have some pasta? Head to Angelo’s Pizza and Pasta for a heaping plate of spaghetti or a sizzling pizza decked out with the freshest ingredients. Brick oven pizzas include the Angelo’s Special with pepperoni, mushrooms, bacon, black olives, peppers and onions, Pizza Caprina with olive oil, garlic, spinach, feta and mozzarella cheese, and the White Pizza with alfredo sauce and mozzarella cheese. Pasta dishes feature Cappellini Tuscana with mushrooms, artichokes, sundried tomatoes, basil, and fresh tomatoes, Penne Milano with sundried tomatoes, mushrooms, feta cheese and basil, and Baked Ziti with ricotta, tomato cream and mozzarella. Panini, calzones, soup, antipasti and salads are also on the menu. Open for lunch and dinner.

Butler Longhorn Museum: A Unique Cultural Destination In League City

Nestled away in League City, the Butler Longhorn Museum opened in May of 2009, creating a unique cultural destination for locals and out-of-towners alike. As its name implies, the focus of this quirky museum is the documentation of Texas longhorn cattle. The museum tells the classic story of Milby Butler and how he helped save the Texas Longhorn from extinction, and the facility also houses a unique collection of western art and artifacts.

If you’re interested in learning any form of art, the Longhorn Museum hosts art classes for all ages and levels. Be sure to check the calendar for sign up dates; the classes are pretty popular and tend to fill up quickly. They also have local artists’ work on display and for sale at the museum.

Open to the public Tuesdays through Saturdays, the Butler Longhorn Museum charges an admission fee of $10 for adults. Children 5 and under are admitted free!

Space Center Houston: Blast Off Into Hours of Educational Fun

For outer space enthusiasts young and old, there might not be a greater experience than visiting Space Center Houston. Since 1992, Space Center Houston has been one of the top attractions in the city, drawing more than 16 million visitors to its unique, educational complex.

This fun-filled attraction makes learning about space fun and realistic through its 250 space artifacts, state-of-the-art theaters, and interactive exhibits that offer a way to experience the thrill of outer space. There are a number of permanent and traveling exhibits scattered throughout the 183,000-square-foot facility, including a full-scale replica of a real space shuttle and the "Living in Space" exhibit, which offers a glimpse of life on the International Space Station.

Special events like "Meet an Astronaut Fridays" and "Lunch With an Astronaut" enable visitors to chat about space travel with real life astronauts, while the NASA Tram Tour takes you on a tour around the grounds of the impressive Johnson Space Center.

Main Event: From Laser Tag Arena to Indoor Ropes Course

Other bowling alleys, laser tag arenas, and mini golf courses can't hold a candle to Webster's Main Event, regulars say. That's because this family fun center doesn't just have one of these kid-friendly attractions—it has all of them. Bring along your entire brood and play a round of laser tag in Main Event's decked-out obstacle course, complete with secret passageways, glowing arches, and creeping fog. There's also a bowling alley, brought into the modern era by screens over the lanes and soft colored lighting.

Mini golf, karaoke, and arcade games are all available at Main Event, as well, but perhaps the most unique attraction? The Gravity Ropes. Perhaps more aptly described as an indoor ropes course, the Gravity Ropes give kids a chance to test their agility as they're hoisted aloft. The midair obstacle course features all necessary safety precautions, but that shouldn't detract from the thrill as you or your child scramble across rope bridges and climb various other structures.
