Snow Tips!

MORE SNOW tips to help ARK Blue Bell residents through the storm!

The worst winter in recent history continues to hold us in its grip! We are expecting more snow this week, so it is imperative that our community understands some basic tips to help us through the rest of this winter:

PLOWING: Our snow removal contractor will be clearing snow from the driveways and making the initial pathway through the parking lot as quickly as possible. We cannot move snow out of parking spots until the cars move out of the spots. When you see a cleared area PLEASE move your car to that spot. This will allow the contractor to move the snow to the ends of the parking lot and not up onto the sidewalks. (PLEASE NOTE THAT WITH SIGNIFICANT SNOW FALLS YOU WILL SEE ORANGE CONES IN AREAS WHERE WE WILL BE DEPOSITING SNOW. DO NOT PARK THERE!)

SHOVELING: The walkways will be cleared and salted as fast as the crew can get to them! Please invest in a snow shovel to get yourself out of the parking spot to a cleared spot. We do not have the manpower to shovel out every car.

GENERAL: Please make sure that you have batteries and flashlights in the event of a power outage. Call PECO at 800-841-4141 in the event of an outage. ARK management has no inside information on when the power will go back on. You must call PECO! In the event your cable TV or internet is down please call 1-800-Comcast. And most importantly remember to help your neighbors!

Nutrition Tips for Vegetarians

Whether you want to show support for animals or simply choose to avoid meat products, becoming a vegetarian can be a very healthy lifestyle choice. Though it decreases your risk for many long-term diseases, a vegetarian diet can make it difficult to get the protein and other nutrients a person needs to stay healthy and energized.

These vegetarian eating tips can help you create a balanced, meat-free diet:

  • Make sure that you get enough protein by incorporating nuts, beans, peas and soy products into meals and snacks.
  • Keep up with your necessary iron intake to create healthy oxygen absorption in the blood by eating a lot of spinach, kidney beans, lentils, black-eyed peas and iron-fortified cereals.
  • Choose calcium-fortified soy milk to replace the calcium normally found in regular cow’s milk.
  • Consider vegetarian alternatives to traditionally meat-based foods to keep your diet exciting (for example, bean burritos, veggie lo mein, or vegetarian lasagna).

Snow Removal, We Need Your Help!

With one storm gone and anther on the way, ARK Blue Bell needs the help of all residents to clear our parking areas. Please move your cars temporarily to the cleared sections of the parking lots or to the clubhouse parking area. This will allow us to effectively clear all parking lots directly in front of your building.

It is essential that we clear all parking lots today before the next storm arrives this evening. We appreciate your cooperation as we continue to do our best to clear the snow.

Thank you! Management

Basta Pasta: Great Italian Food in Skippak Village

Basta Pasta is housed in a historic brick building that was once a hardware store. Now it's a charming trattoria serving pasta, pizza, wine, and all of your Italian fare favorites.

The dining room has a cozy feel, has pressed copper ceilings, checkered tablecloths, and comfortable booths. The house specialty is the gnocchi di ricotta, described as hand-rolled pasta pillows dressed in a mascarpone pomodor blush sauce. If you more in the mood for meat, regulars recommend the vitello, consisting of tender veal medallions with parma ham, fresh sage, asiago cheese and a rich demi glaze. One of the most ordered items at Basta Pasta is the pizza, whch is thin with a golden, crispy crust.

During summer, Basta Pasta has a tiki bar outside, with small plates and specialty cocktails.
