Basta Pasta: Great Italian Food in Skippak Village

February 4, 2014 11:17 am

Basta Pasta is housed in a historic brick building that was once a hardware store. Now it's a charming trattoria serving pasta, pizza, wine, and all of your Italian fare favorites.

The dining room has a cozy feel, has pressed copper ceilings, checkered tablecloths, and comfortable booths. The house specialty is the gnocchi di ricotta, described as hand-rolled pasta pillows dressed in a mascarpone pomodor blush sauce. If you more in the mood for meat, regulars recommend the vitello, consisting of tender veal medallions with parma ham, fresh sage, asiago cheese and a rich demi glaze. One of the most ordered items at Basta Pasta is the pizza, whch is thin with a golden, crispy crust.

During summer, Basta Pasta has a tiki bar outside, with small plates and specialty cocktails.

January 28, 2014 11:56 am

The Farm House Restaurant in Skippack is true to its name — it's located inside a historic farm house overlooking Zacharias Creek inside the picturesque Evansburg State Park. The cuisine is made from the freshest and healthiest ingredients available, including the restaurant's signature items, pan-seared salmon and jumbo lump crab.

For lunch, frequent guests recommend the Craisin chicken salad, consisting of roasted pulled chicken, dried cranberries, and mixed greens with a honey Dijon dressing. For dinner, start with the lobster macaroni and cheese, then choose from an impressive list of entrees, including roasted Portobello pasta, rack of lamb, balsamic glazed meat loaf, or scallop and asparagus risotto.

The restaurant offers a variety of specialty drinks, such as the key lime pie martini, or the pineapple upside down cake martini (Stoli Vanil, Cointreau, and pineapple juice with a graham cracker crusted glass.)

Just a short drive from ARK by Korman Blue Bell in Skippack, The Farm House is open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesdays through Thursdays and Sundays, and from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.
