Sip Espresso, Nosh Arepas at The Coffee Bistro

Locals know that the best place to get a serious cup of java is League City’s Coffee Bistro. However, this unique restaurant has a lot more to offer than just great cups of joe. Instead of the traditional bagels and pastries, Coffee Bistro serves a menu of authentic, delicious Dominican and Caribbean food. Regulars rave about the arepas, which are delicious little fried corn dumplings stuffed with meat or cheese. They’re a great way to start the day with something hearty. Also excellent are the maduros, sweet plantains delicately fried so the sugars caramelize.

The Coffee Bistro also serves lunch and dinner, including a quite tasty pork chop sauteed with onions. Prices are reasonable, and service is fast and friendly.

The staff is incredibly conversant with the attributes of everything they serve, so they’re happy to describe a bottle before you open it. They also prepare an excellent homemade sangria every day, which is delicious. If you’re a beer lover, the bar offers a selection of 20 draft brews and 50 more in bottles.
