Michiru Sushi: Ocean Fresh Sushi in Webster

This exceptional Webster eatery boasts a wide selection of traditional Japanese nigiri and rolls, but ups the ante with a well-curated menu of fusion dishes that delight taste buds. Located in an out of the way strip mall off of the NASA Bypass, Michiru Sushi is somewhat hard to find but worth the effort.

The visual presentation of the food here is one of the highlights – everything comes out of the kitchen and sushi bar looking magazine-perfect. Some favorite rolls that locals recommend include the sweet potato roll, tempura-fried and perfectly seasoned, as well as the delicious spicy salmon roll. On the rest of the menu, some must-try dishes include the Szechuan-style peppercorn beef, sautéed in a seriously tangy hot sauce that will stick with you, as well as the fruity Grand Marnier prawns.

Thai Seafood Restaurant: An Array of Flavors

The Thai Seafood Restaurant, located not far from Avana South Shore in Webster, serves up fresh seafood cooked with the fragrant herbs and spices of Thai cuisine. The ambiance at this restaurant is charming and elegant and the service is attentive.

Start off with a steaming bowl of Tom Yum Soup, the satisfying melding of herbs, meat, fish and veggies that’s the perfect precursor to a delectable meal. Follow it up with some super-fresh fish cooked in a kaleidoscope of styles. Other authentic dishes of the region include Pad Thai, a yummy combination of noodles, veggies, peanuts and meat, and Pad Kee Mao – also known as Drunken Noodles – with rice noodles, egg, peppers and veggies, stewed in a fiery sauce.

Thai Seafood Restaurant is closed on Mondays, but open for lunch and dinner the rest of the week.

BJ’s Restaurant & Brewhouse: A Webster Brewpub

Webster locals looking for a draught of exceptional beer and a solid meal have been flocking to BJ’s for years, and for good reason. This small chain started in 1978 in California and has spread throughout the United States on the strength of its food and atmosphere. The key to BJ’s success is their exceptional deep dish pizza. Made Chicago-style, these pizza pies are dense, filling and flavorful.

Some of the more popular combinations include the Pepperoni Extreme, featuring BJ’s signature five cheese blend and the Sweet Pig with pineapple and oven-roasted ham. The menu goes way beyond pizza, though, with other high-quality offerings including the baby back ribs and the overstuffed burgers. As you’d expect from the restaurant’s name, they also brew their own beer, which is quite good. The Oasis amber is the pick to sample for first-timers, but just about everything is worth trying.

Regulars at King Chicken agree that the biggest draw at this Webster restaurant is the outstanding Peruvian-style roasted chicken, which is served tender and moist, with crispy golden skin. Yelp reviewers swear that the aroma itself is enough to make your knees go weak, and you can order a quarter chicken for a single person or get a whole chicken to feed a crowd. Add a side of fried yucca, plantains, or coleslaw and you've got a hearty, tasty meal. Other favorites on the menu include spicy black beans and jalapeno and cheese pupusas. Whatever you order, you can expect large portions, bold flavors, and reasonable prices.

The restaurant offers counter service rather than sit-down service, and while it's pleasant enough to eat in the restaurant's dining room, customers who want to take their time and savor every bite often order their meals to go.

Grab a Quick Bite at Antonini’s Subs & Steaks

Antonini's Subs & Steaks serves a variety of Philly-style sandwiches with larger-than-life Texas proportions. When you order a turkey sandwich, for example, you'll get at least a couple of inches of shaved turkey heaped up between the bread. A meatball sub comes packed with oversized meatballs and melted cheese oozing out either end. And since the shop's owner is from the Philly area, you know you can get an authentic Philly cheesesteak at Antonini's. You'll also see evidence of the owner’s heritage in the variety of quality Italian cured meats this shop stocks, and Yelpers say Antonini's salami, pepperoni, and pastrami can't be beat.

There are a few small tables against the walls for diners who want to eat their subs in the restaurant, but this shop mainly runs a thriving take-out business, so feel free to pick up a quick meal on the go.

Carrabba’s Italian Grill: Tasty Italian Fare

One of the leading casual dining chains in America right now is Carrabba’s Italian Grill. Founded by two men from Texas who wanted to share the joy of flavorful, inexpensive Italian food with the world, it’s grown rapidly since incorporating in 1986 and now boasts hundreds of locations around the country. The fare is solid and well-prepared.

Start your meal with one of their can’t-miss appetizers – they have a menu of five delectable choices for just five dollars each. The lightly fried zucchini is quite good, as is the bacon and caramelized onion flatbread. For entrees, regulars rave about the chicken Bryan – wood-grilled chicken served with sundried tomatoes, goat cheese, fresh basil and lemon butter. Meats and fish from the grill are a specialty, with sirloin marsala and a hazelnut-breaded tilapia both drawing raves. Their pastas are also good, with the oven-baked manicotti a favorite.
