Rudy’s Bar B Q: Classic Barbecue in Spring, Texas

Rudy’s Bar B Q is a popular Spring spot for enjoying tasty barbecue. The space presents a down-home setting with an old fashioned gas station theme that recounts the fact that the original in this chain of restaurants began at a Texas gas station.

Sidle up to the counter, place your order and sit down at one of their wooden picnic-style tables. Meat is sold by the half-pound. Choose from Brisket, Turkey Breast, Spicy Chop, Half Chicken, Turkey, Pork Loin, Pork Spare Ribs, Baby Back Ribs, Regular Sausage and Jalapeno Sausage. They slice your meat right at the counter and pile it onto white butcher paper. Choose from Spicy or Regular Sauce. Add on some tasty sides like Creamed Corn, Potato Salad, Spicy Beans, Coleslaw, and New Potatoes.

Start Your Day With a Stack of Pancakes at Sunny Side of the Street

It’s challenging to not find yourself charmed by a breakfast joint when the logo is a sunburst—made of bacon! At Spring’s Sunny Side of the Street, chefs Michael and Tony Kusuma are hard at work on making the most important meal of the day the most delicious meal of the day, as well.

The breakfast menu is chock full of classics such as thick Texas-style French toast, customizable three-egg omelets, and buttery old fashioned biscuits topped with sausage gravy. For the more adventurous, sample some “Future Classics” like apple cheddar flapjacks, blueberry custard baked French toast, or curried butternut squash shirred eggs. While the breakfast selections dominate, the lunch menu also shines with fan favorites and Southern signatures like the self-explanatory chicken waffle toast sandwich and the Korean pulled-pork sandwich served with Korean cabbage slaw and spicy barbecue sauce.

Sunny Side of the Street is open 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily, with lunch available after 11 a.m. The early bird gets the worm in this case, as tables tend to fill up fast, particularly on the weekends.

Hummingbird Tea Room and Bakery is a delightful spot to take a break from the hustle and bustle and bask in a serene setting with a cup of tea and a homemade scone. Tea is available either in bulk by the pound, or to drink there by the cup or pot.

Their myriad teas includes Organic Earl Grey, Bombay Chai, Organic Lopsang Souchong, White Lotus, Marrakesh Mint, Orchid Oolong, and Chamomile Citrus. They also have organic brewed coffee and espresso drinks. In addition to yummy Scones, Cookies and Muffins, they have breakfast offerings like Omelets, Stuffed Croissants, Waffles and Sausage Rolls.
