If you do not like Chinese food, then you have not tried Yens Cafe. This Ashburn restaurant may not look like much from the outside, but on the inside is flavorful and gratifying cuisine.

Yen’s Cafe serves traditional Chinese dishes like General Tso’s chicken, Moo Shu Pork, and Orange Beef, just to name a few. In addition, they also serve a variety of soups including corn and ham egg drop soup, mixed seafood soup, and tomato and tofu soup. If you are looking to try something different, go for the stir fried shrimp with scrambled eggs or the crispy lemongrass fluke filet.

Lunch combinations are available from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on weekdays and include the entree, salad, and a spring roll. Reservations are accepted and recommended for dinner, especially on Friday and Saturday nights. Delivery is available within a six-mile radius.

Sushi Noshi: Classic Creations, No Cooking Necessary

Though Sushi Noshi has only been in business since 2013, the owners of this family establishment have many years of experience in the restaurant industry. Sushi Noshi serves a range of Japanese cuisine besides sushi, such as teriyaki, tempura, and katsu dishes. Regulars recommend the salmon salad, the spicy salmon roll, the shrimp yaki soba, and the James Bond roll. Regular diners particularly like the fatty tuna dishes here, which they say are on par with those served at West Coast sushi restaurants. Ask the chef about the day’s fish bellies, if you like them.

Most of the special rolls on the menu here are more traditional, so you won’t find as many baked, fried, or mayonnaise-smothered sushi rolls — a plus for sushi purists and those who prefer a healthier meal. Regulars say the sushi is fresh and the employees at Sushi Noshi are friendly and accommodating.

Brewmasters Favio Garcia and Matt Hagerman founded Lost Rhino Brewing Co. to bring a taste of West Coast-style brews to the people of the Mid-Atlantic region. You’ll find some great beers here, but you’ll also encounter a lively tasting room complete with what regulars call a very satisfying snacks menu. Order some barbecue chicken sliders, a loaded hot dog, chips and dip, or a Bavarian pretzel while you taste the many unique beers brewed here. Favorite beers at Lost Rhino include the Face Plant, the Pretty in Pink, the Hop Star, and the New River. You can order some root beer for the kids, too.

Locals love the bar-like atmosphere at Lost Rhino, where you can enjoy live music from local musicians on Friday and Saturday nights. Tours of the brewery are available on Saturday afternoons. When you find a beer you like, get a growler to take home!
