Travel Back 11,000 Years in Time at the Maxwell Museum of Anthropology

Find out more about the Southwest at the Maxwell Museum of Anthropology, where you can travel back in time 11,000 years to unearth the cultural heritage of the area.

Some of the museum’s highlights include the major excavations in the Southwest and the archeologists at the helm of the projects. You’ll explore a model of a room at Chaco Canyon, one of the premier archeological sites in the Southwest. You’ll also see the museum’s impressive prehistoric pottery collection and learn about "Lucy." Interactive exhibits for kids encourage learning in a fun, hands-on setting. Sign the kids up for the museum’s summer camp, where they engage in hands-on activities like bread baking, making musical instruments, geo-caching, and fossil examinations!

Maxwell Museum of Anthropology is open Tuesdays through Saturdays. Admission is free.
