May 10, 2013 | sack
The Sonoma Film Institute (SFI), in Rohnert Park on the Sonoma State University campus, has been screening films since 1973, making it the oldest film repertory organization in the North Bay. The Institute presents over 50 films throughout the school year, spanning the full range of the cinema experience. Screenings include classic silent films, avant-garde experimental works, and contemporary American and global cinema. Though films are largely selected for educational opportunities for students, the public is welcome to attend and enjoy the unique offerings that SFI presents. Screened in the university’s Warren Auditorium, films are offered at low general admission prices, with discounts available for students, seniors, children, and university staff. Known for its history of presenting early screenings of major film works by highly reputable filmmakers, the SFI provides reliable entertainment for film buffs of all ages in Rohnert Park.
