Globally-Renowned Pizzas are Served at Tony’s of North Beach

Chef Tony Gemigniani doesn’t have a childhood in Italy to credit for his incredible grasp of the cuisine. He’s a California boy through and through, born and raised on an apricot and cherry farm. As a child, he cooked alongside his mother, who used produce from the family gardens in her meals. This gave him an abiding respect for sourcing nothing but the best, and when he entered the restaurant business at his brother’s Castro Valley pizzeria he quickly rose to fame, winning the World Champion Pizza Maker title at the 2007 World Pizza Cup in Naples.

Now at the helm of his own eatery, Gemigniani dazzles diners with his lively, delicious preparations. Don’t miss the Peroni-battered artichokes, which are deep-fried to perfection. As you’d expect, the pizzas—fired in a 900-degree wood oven—are the best in town. Prices are a little high, but the quality is more than worth it.
