The Austin Marathon and Half Marathon Return on February 19th

Nearly 18,000 people are expected to come together this year for the epic Austin Marathon and Half Marathon. Returning on Sunday, February 19th, the annual sporting event is now in its 26th year of races, festivities, and a healthy dose of competition. While the main event may be on Sunday, February 19th, the entire weekend is full of special events to mark the occasion.

On Sunday, there will be a number of different race events throughout the day, and the day kicks off at 7 a.m. with both the marathon and the half marathon. The race follows a loop so it starts and ends at the same spot on Congress Avenue. The course makes its way past some of the biggest attractions and sites in Austin. Marathon and half marathon finishers will be greeted at the finish line with a fun festival featuring music, food, drinks, games, and more, so even if you're not running in this year's race, be sure to check it out!

Learn How Feng Shui Can Affect Pets at a Fun-Filled Class on February 8th

Feng shui has long been considered important for the health and happiness of humans in their homes. For those who are unfamiliar, feng shui is an ancient Chinese belief with the premise that there's a correlation between having a balanced environment at home and having a harmonious life. But, what is not often brought to light is the importance of feng shui for pets. On Wednesday, February 8th, guests of Dirty Dog Grooming (which is just nine miles from Folio) can learn about feng shui tips when it comes to the happiness of their pet. Cool, right?

The class will help humans and their pets reach ideal happiness and relaxation in their own homes. Guests are encouraged to bring their furry friends. The event starts with a social hour for pets and pet owners (with light refreshments) and continues with a feng shui lesson. Tickets, just $20 per person, are required for entry and are available online.

Halal Bros: Mediterranean Cuisine On the Go

When you think about it, Mediterranean food is a great cuisine for the on-the-go lifestyle. Okay, so maybe it isn’t the easiest thing to eat rice while walking, but the kebabs, wraps, and general handheld nature of so many dishes make it perfect for the person who doesn't have time to sit down at a restaurant. And that’s part of what makes Halal Bros so great; sure, you could sit and enjoy your meal, but it’s just as enjoyable on the go.

The West Braker Lane establishment in Gracy Woods has become a favorite of area residents, and it’s easy to see why. The food is both affordable and delicious, and there is no shortage of variety. Shawarma, kebabs, gyros, falafel, and more can be found here in a number of variations here. The quick and friendly service turns meals out like clockwork, making this the ideal spot for a quick yet entirely satisfying bite.
