Shake Shack: Burgers, Beer and Sweet Treats

Thick, creamy milkshakes. Hot, crispy fries. Thick, juicy burgers. These are the key components of every Shake Shack, including the new location opened at the end of August near Folio. Shake Shack may be a nationwide chain, but even mixed in with the indie burger joints and food trailers in Austin, it still stands out.

That's because Shake Shack operates more like a local, independent business than a chain. This second Austin branch sources ingredients from local providers such as Kreuz Market, Kiskadee, Uchiko, and Uchi. So you can feel good about tearing into a ShackBurger, crafted from all-natural Angus beef (that means no hormones or antibiotics) with cheese, lettuce, tomato, and the signature ShackSauce. You can also opt for a vegetarian 'ShroomBurger instead, or a Lockhart Link "burger" featuring Kreuz Market's jalapeno-cheese sausage links. Add fries, a massive milkshake or cup of custard, and a beer for the full Shake Shack experience.

Enjoy DIY Batches of Vino at Water 2 Wine

If you've ever wondered what exactly goes into making bottle of wine, Water 2 Wine eliminates the mystery from the process. One of several branches of the winery and retail store, this Water 2 Wine about 10 minutes from Folio invites guests to make their own batch of wine. You actually get your hands dirty (with grape juice) in the first few steps of the process, right up through pitching the yeast, and then let the staff take over. They'll put the finishing touches on your wine and help you tailor a special label for the 28 to 30 bottles that you'll eventually take home.

If you just want to sip some wine, you can do that at Water 2 Wine, too. You can always grab a glass or a bottle at the store, and all of the vino is fermented right on-site. That being said, the grapes hail from all over the world. They do have one thing in common, though: zero histamines and fewer sulfites than most wines. In other words, you won't experience some the typical wine-drinking side effects at Water 2 Wine, like a headache or flushed cheeks. Have you visited this place yet?

Experience the New Weekend Brunch at Topgolf Austin

You wouldn't necessarily expect a driving range to have an upscale restaurant in-house, but if you've ever visited Topgolf Austin, then you already know this isn't your average driving range. Each of its bays comes complete with electronic scoreboard (to tally up your points when a golf ball hits a glowing target on the green), a high-topped table, and server. And Topgolf Austin, which is only five minutes from Folio, even does brunch. In fact, it recently debuted a revamped brunch menu that gives new meaning to the phrase "Sunday Funday."

No Sunday (or Saturday) Funday would be complete without a boozy beverage, and Topgolf Austin's new menu contains all of the usual brunch suspects: mimosas, bloody Marys, and spiked coffees. But it also offers inventive morning cocktails such as the Manmosa, a mix of Blue Moon, prosecco, and OJ. To soak up that booze, order something like the caramelized cinnamon French toast (which is infused with coconut rum) or the chicken and waffle sliders with spicy gravy and maple syrup. Yum!

Rebel Pizza Bar: A Fresh New Take on the Classic Pizzeria

Given that its neighbor is a mattress store, you might be surprised by how contemporary and trendy Rebel Pizza Bar is on the inside. Artistic graffiti covers the walls and a shiny wood-topped wraparound bar serves as the centerpiece. The eatery even boasts outdoor space in the form of a rooftop patio, a fun addition that includes a bocce ball court in case dinner gets boring.

So although the eatery just opened in September about 10 minutes from Folio, it should come as no surprise that it's already racking up rave reviews from local eaters. And that's not just because of the bocce ball court or the craft beers on tap. They're also gushing about the specialty pizzas, like the Fowl Play. This pie arrives topped with roasted chicken, red onion and green pepper, green olives, feta cheese, basil pesto, and a signature blend of Rebel Herbs. For more pork on your pie, try the Pig and Fig with prosciutto, fig jam, red onion, goat cheese, arugula, and lemon-parmesan. Even Eater Austin declares the creative pies worth a try.
