When Pho Phi debuted a couple of weeks ago, less than two miles from Folio, it only added to the already vibrant culinary scene in Austin. The city is obviously known for keeping things "weird," and its eclectic mix of brick-and-mortar restaurants, food trailers, and food trucks certainly contributes. So Pho Phi fits nicely into the equation.
The Vietnamese restaurant is aptly named, since it serves up piping-hot bowls of pho. This classic soup is heartier than your typical chicken noodle. It's filled with noodles and veggies, plus the meat of your choice. Beef is the traditional protein, featured in many different versions (from tripe to meatballs), but you can also opt for chicken, seafood, or tofu in your pho. Save some room for iced coffee with condensed milk after you've eaten.
