Round Rock Donuts: Not Just Donuts

Since 1926, Round Rock Donuts has been a Texas tradition with their famous golden doughy delights. Their signature donut — glazed, warm and Texas-sized — has been featured on national TV food shows. Other donut options are simple and traditional — don’t expect any fancy flavors or sprinkles. In addition to the glazed, cake, and cream filled donuts, the bakery also offers a variety of other baked goods like danishes, fritters, muffins and coffee cakes.  Customers rave about the cream filled eclairs. And though Round Rock Donuts is a famous area landmark, it hasn’t gone to their heads — everything is reasonably priced and the lobby has a homey feel with stone walls and wood paneling.

In a hurry or don't want to be tempted? Use the drive-thru. Round Rock Donuts also creates custom cakes for birthdays, graduations, weddings and other special occasions.

Lomography Gallery Store: Snap Shots

The days of analog photography seem a little limited, with Instagram making your cell phone capable of turning out a diverse variety of images, but some stalwarts are still holding tight to their cameras. The lomogoraphy movement, founded in 1991 by a pair of German students, aims to celebrate the funky, unusual images that can be produced by inexpensive film cameras. Their movement has spread throughout the world, and they’ve opened a number of pop-up shops to share the joys of lomography. In Austin, they’ve opened a gallery store in the historic Congress Avenue district, which is enjoying an artistic renaissance. Inside, the store features a wall with over 4,000 lomographs of Austin life, as well as a selection of interesting cameras. The staff will gladly demonstrate and explain each one to help you make your purchase. They also sell film and provide developing services. They also host workshops throughout the year for aspiring photographers.
