Want to watch the game? Head to Pluckers Wing Bar in Round Rock, just a few minutes from Indigo Apartments. This place loves to use their fryers! Pluckers has 19 zesty sauces to coat their crispy and juicy wings, like the Hallelujah, sweet sauce with a kick, and Spicy Mandarin, for a flavorful twist. If you want to challenge your taste buds, try Fire In The Hole, their hottest sauce.  Those that manage to put away 25 wings will appear on their “wall of flame.” (If you do, make sure to cool off with some sweet tea.) Other fried favorites are the pickles, fried mac and cheese, and thick-cut homemade potato chips with warm blue cheese dressing. Burgers and sandwiches round out their menu, along with several sides including twice baked potato casserole, waffle fries, and mac and cheese — which many people swear is the best they’ve had. Urban Picnic is a delightfully fresh sandwich shop in Round Rock that serves healthy and tasty lunch fare.  The concept is creating gourmet picnic boxes that include a sandwich or salad, a side, and a cake ball.  The chicken salad sandwich is a popular choice, as is the ham and cheddar with Dijon and apple butter, which gives a tangy touch and brings the flavors together.  Many choose a cup of soup for their side, and the potato is nice and creamy.  Urban Picnic specializes in cake balls and there are many rotating flavors to choose from.  These small desserts give the perfect amount of sweet finish to your meal.  Chef specials rotate through the menu.  Prices reflect the quality ingredients, and reasonably-sized portions make it a fair deal.  There are a few tables inside and out, but most orders are to-go.  You can order online and they’ll even deliver, making it perfect for office lunches.

Shipley Do-Nuts has been serving sweet confections for over 76 years, and this location in Round Rock is known for always have fresh products. If you like to start your day with a sweet, Shipley’s has delectable sweet doughnuts of all kinds. If you prefer savory, they also serve kolaches – regulars recommend the sausage and cheese. This bakeshop is airy and the staff are friendly. Kids enjoy watching the doughnut making process through an inside window looks into the kitchen. There’s even a drive through if you’re in a hurry.

Pig Out On Pulled Pork at Curly’s Perfect Pig

Curly’s Perfect Pig in Round Rock is the area favorite for authentic Carolina-style pulled pork, served with a friendly smile.  There are several sandwiches on this food trailer’s menu, like “Nashvegas” pulled pork on pan-fried cornbread and a side of cole slaw.  Purists will love the “Charleston” with its homemade mustard based sauce.  The sides are just as good, including hushpuppies that are crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside.  Although many customers come for the pulled pork, the fried okra has a following of its own.  Don’t overlook the specials, as customers love treats like the innovative quesadillas.

Enchiladas y Mas: Down-Home Tex-Mex Cuisine

Enchiladas y Mas is a cozy little spot that serves up some of Austin’s favorite Tex-Mex food.  Since 1994 this family-owned restaurant has relied on their family recipes to fill bellies and and put smiles on customers’ faces. They love the saying ‘never trust a skinny cook’ — leave your calorie counter at home and get ready to indulge in cheese smothered goodness.  Regulars love the spicy salsa and guacamole.  Entrees are generously portioned and don’t hide the meat.  Their specialties are enchiladas and fajitas — which have won many awards, including best fajitas from the Austin American-Statesman. Big Breakfasts at 620 Cafe and Bakery

620 Cafe and Bakery serves up some of Round Rock’s biggest breakfasts.  Hungry patrons come to this greasy spoon for the large menu and generous portions of breakfast and lunch favorites.  From eggs to waffles, the breakfast options seem endless, but customer favorites stand out.  The Benedict with a sausage patty and gravy and the corned beef hash are popular choices.  Most dishes come with your choice of a side, and grits are recommended.  If you’re extra hungry, order a side of their specialty, chicken fried bacon served with cream gravy.  There are just as many lunch options as there are breakfast dishes making 620 Cafe and Bakery a great spot for brunch goers.  Try the Tex-Mex cheese steak with fajita meat, onions peppers and monterey jack cheese.  The bakery turns out a variety of fresh pies, cookies, pastries and breads if you’re looking for a small, sweet snack.

Celebrate Baseball Season with the Round Rock Express

There might be no better way to celebrate summer than a night of America’s favorite past-time. Come watch the Texas Rangers’ AAA baseball affiliate, the Round Rock Express light up the Dell Diamond. Cheering on the Express is affordable family fun, with lots of entertainment for kids including a basketball court and rock wall. Between innings they have fun contests and entertainment. The best deal is lawn seating on the outfield “berm” as fans call it. Bring a blanket and enjoy the game from a unique vantage point.  Fridays are an especially popular evening, at the end of the game fireworks light up the sky.  Check their website for other promotions and packages, and be sure to reserve tickets in advance for popular games.

BJ’s Restaurant and Brewhouse: A Menu To Please Everyone

BJ’s Restaurant and Brewhouse has a menu large enough to please just everyone; from burgers to salad, and pasta to steaks, its full of standard American fare.  Their signature offering is pizza, with plenty of options including flatbread appetizers like the roasted veggie and goat cheese, as well as deep dish and hand tossed pies.  BJ’s is famous for their innovative “pizookie” dessert – a deep-dish cookie pie topped with ice cream.  The bar features their craft brews and customers recommend ordering a beer flight to sample the a few of their offerings, don’t worry the pours are generous.  If you like something fruity, the berry cider and peachy keen sangria are great options, and for non-drinkers, try the handcrafted root beer and cream soda.  BJ’s is popular spot and waits are typical during the dinner hour.  Located in Round Rock, BJ's doesn't accept reservations, but regulars recommend calling ahead to get your name on the list.

Grab A Beer Round Rock’s Westside Alehouse

With over 50 beers on tap, Westside Alehouse boasts what might be the largest selection of local beers on tap in Round Rock. Their many beer flights are a great way to try new beers and the bar menu features many fusions beyond the traditional “black and tan” – try the “Belgian Brunette” a mix of Guinness and Stella Artois. Pitchers and “tubes” make Westside Alehouse a great place to gather a group of friends and watch the game on one of their many TVs. The bar also offers a nice selection of cocktails that feature unique flavor combinations, like the cucumber-basil collins. The small menu features American pub food, and many customers agree they do fried food best. The onion rings and sweet potato fries are popular options for snacking. If you work in the area, Westside Alehouse has a lunch specials menu on weekdays – most options are under $7 for an entree and iced tea. Morelia Mexican Grill: Not Your Typical Tex-Mex Cuisine

Morelia Mexican Grill in Round Rock is not your typical Tex-Mex food. The family hails from Morelia, Mexico and the menu offers traditional and authentic food.  Of course you can find your favorite Mexican items like Burritos and Tacos, but what makes Morelia stand out is a varied menu with more options than is typical of Mexican food.  In addition to standard beef, chicken and shrimp fajitas, the grill offers combos that feature quail and ribs.  If you like enchiladas, they have 10 to choose from, including crawfish enchiladas with a cajun cream sauce. In fact, their special sauces are found throughout the menu and range from ranchero to mole and spicy cream. The atmosphere is casual and murals transform the walls making the bar look like Mayan carved stone. Bar beverages are more than just margaritas and include traditional drinks like a Charro Negro, a refreshing combination of Tequila and Coke.
