Find Authentic Peruvian Fare at Barranco
October 11, 2017 | sack
Barranco, situated in the heart of Lafayette, serves up contemporary Peruvian cuisine featuring a menu of empanadas, cebiches, family-style tapas, and fresh local seafood. Headed by Chef Carlos Altamirano, Barranco is aptly named after the coastal neighborhood of Barranco in Lima, Peru and most of the menu and atmosphere is inspired by the culture. Indulge in a Pisco Sour from their expansive bar or enjoy the popular Langostino Crocantes, crispy quinoa encrusted wild Mexican white shrimp with sweet potato puree and Inca Kola barbecue sauce.
The restaurant has a lively, bohemian atmosphere with bright colors, patterned tile, depictions of the mountains of Peru, and custom murals from Bay Area artists Letty Samonte and Bridget Moser. Barranco also features a roomy outdoor patio perfect for dining al fresco. Barranco is open for dinner Sunday through Tuesday 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Friday and Saturday 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.
