Solano Avenue in North Berkeley is home to many a good eatery, but one that truly shines is Rivoli Restaurant. Modeled after trattorias and bistros in Italy and France, Rivoli Restaurant opened in 1994 and has been delighting local diners since.

The ambiance of the place sets the stage for a romantic dining experience: the dim lighting bathes the entire place in warmth and the beautiful outdoor garden is visible from almost any seat inside. There's a full-service bar and an extensive wine menu that includes dessert wines, to boot.

The menu changes frequently to highlight what's freshest and in-season, and some recent entre options here have included dishs like ricotta and butternut squash lasagna, lamb shank with roasted eggplant, and veal with huckleberry sauce. The desserts are elegant, too, with options like brownie cake, lemon sorbet, and banana cheesecake delighting visitors.
