Coral Gables Museum: A Community Treasure

The Coral Gables Museum began as a dream in 1990, and opened to the public in 2011. In that time, the museum has become a haven to learning about the history of the Coral Gables area, as well as a great spot to see some great local art and history. The museum is housed in the former municipal building, so walk around, and you’ll see some pretty cool sculptures outside! Inside, take a visual tour Coral Gables from the vision to the present. Learn more about Coral Gables’ “sister cities” around the world, and check out the calendar, highlighting various lectures, tours and even a walking tour of the area! There are many educational programs for kids and families, and you can even rent space for your own event.

Cibo Wine Bar: Vintages

Wine bars are a popular trend, and you’ve got a good one at the Cibo Wine Bar. Located on the Miracle Mile just off of Merrick Way, Cibo is a wine bar that also has terrific Italian food. The décor of the bar and dining room is very modern and cool, especially the wall of wine. There are so many different vintages from around the world, you might just need an angel to help you decide. Luckily, the “wine angels” at Cibo will be glad to help, even if they have to get lifted up by a hoist to get that perfect bottle. It’s quite a show! Happy hour is a great time to come to Cibo, when all drinks are half price. And the dinner menu features a variety of homemade pastas, pizzas and appetizers. Coral Gables Art Cinema: See Something New

You’ll always see something amazing at the Coral Gables Art Cinema. Located on Aragon Avenue just off of Ponce de Leon Boulevard, this movie theater is the place to go to see movies that you just won’t see at the big multi-plex.

As soon as you walk in you’ll get a real movie education, with examples of old cameras and editing equipment lining the walls. One thing you can count on, there are a lot of refreshments! Get a popcorn and soda, some candy or one of the healthier options. Tthe auditorium is a perfect place to see a movie the way it should be seen – on the big screen!

Lowe Art Museum: See International Art

On the campus of the University of Miami, the Lowe Art Museum has been showcasing amazing work from around the world for over a half century. Located right by Lake Osceola, the Lowe was the first art museum in South Florida, and has benefited through the years from generous donations from community members.

The museum's mission has always been to showcase permanent exhibitions, and that has been an unqualified success! Visit and you can see art from Africa, the Caribbean, Europe, Asia, ancient America and other areas with pieces that include pottery, metalwork, paintings, sculpture and photographs. The museum also hosts a number of temporary exhibitions, as well as interesting lectures and workshops.
