This zoo-like facility studies gibbons, a member of an Asian ape species that are truly fascinating creatures. The biologists at the Gibbon Conservation Center study the gibbons and their mating patterns, diets, and other unique tendencies to help conserve the species and keep it from becoming endangered.

During your visit, you will not only get an up-close-and-personal look at the gibbons that inhabit the facility, you’ll also take a tour led by a biologist to learn all about the center’s conservation efforts. Pinot’s Palette: A Painting Studio with a Bar In-House

If you're overdue for a girls' night out, then Pinot's Palette is here to help. Not far from Stevenson ranch on Mcbean Parkway, the painting studio promises a unique night of fun complete with paintbrushes and booze. Unlike other BYOB art studios, Pinot's actually has a bar in-house, which means you don't have to stop to pick up a bottle on your way there. Just bring along some cash for wine, beer, or a booze-free drinks. (Sweeter sips like sangria and cider are on the bar menu, too.)

While you sip away, you'll also be creating a masterpiece. The expert instructors at Pinot's Palette host classes and private events during which they teach pupils how to recreate a striking scene or popular portrait. Unplug and Unwind at Chesebrough Park in Santa Clarita

If you’re looking for a place to blow off some steam this weekend, consider a visit to Chesebrough Park. This kid-friendly park in Santa Clarita hosts modern playground equipment for the kids, including bright orange and neon green play structures, jungle gyms, sliding boards, and swing sets. Meanwhile, older visitors can take a stroll or jog along the paved paths that wind their way around the playground and the park's grassy playing fields.

Chesebrough Park also contains a large softball field that is available for public use and for local league practices, as well as covered pavilions, numerous picnic tables, and public restrooms and water fountains that make a day outdoors much more convenient.

Dr. Richard H. Rioux Memorial Park: 17 Acres of Untamed Space

In his time in Stevenson Ranch, Dr. Richard H. Rioux made a great impact on its people. He was the director of the Los Angeles County Antelope Valley Rehabilitation Centers, and helped many people fighting drug and alcohol addiction. Given his service to the community, it's only fitting that Dr. Rioux serves as the namesake for Dr. Richard H. Rioux Memorial Park in Stevenson Ranch.

In the good doctor's honor, 17 acres were set aside in 1999 as a natural space where locals could escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The park consists mostly of sprawling grassy lawns and beautiful views, so head here for a picnic, a day of sunbathing, or just some time reading in the shade. With basketball courts, a covered playground, and sports fields, there are plenty of more active options if you're interested in those forms of recreation, too.
