You can unleash your inner rock star at GigMasterz Rock Skool, and take your musicianship to the next level learning to read charts and music, using state of the art gear, and practing with other musicians. You even get to play in front of a live audience. Private lessons are also an option.

Placerita Canyon Nature Center: See the Beauty of California

Placerita Canyon Nature Center is the perfect place to escape the hustle and bustle of civilization and recharge your batteries in the beauty of the natural world. The canyon runs east-west on the north side of the San Gabriel Mountains and offers abundant natural beauty, with oaks, willows and sycamore trees, and a seasonally running stream and waterfall. Bears, coyotes, mountain lions, bobcats, rabbits, bats, squirrels and a variety of birds call the canyon home.

Several hiking trails originate at the nature center. Their programs include a Saturday Nature Walk, Native Live Animal Presentation, a docent-led Bird Walk, and a Wildflower Walk. See their website for schedules of activities. The park is open every day with no admission charge.

The Placerita Canyon Nature Center is open Tuesday through Sunday.

Top Out Climbing Gym: Santa Clarita Adventure Sports

Test your mental and physical mettle by getting up close and personal with a climbing wall at Top Out Climbing Gym. The 11,500 square foot gym has climbing options for a variety of skill levels and ages, from children to adults.

The bouldering portion of the facility features a 100 foot steep wall, a 20 foot top out wall, and a 15 foot freestanding boulder, offering a variety of terrain that’s challenging for all levels of climbing experience. Foam landing areas offer safety and protection from injuries. The climbing wall features an auto belay system, which means you can climb safely without a belaying partner. It’s a great place for a family outing, or for a solo climb.

This sports-themed sandwich shop is a favorite for serving up hearty subs loaded with meat, cheese and veggies. The walls are bedecked with photos of California school football teams through the years. Go there to get a great sandwich, made to order and piled high with your favorite ingredients. In fact, these sandwiches are so loaded with lettuce, pickles, tomatoes, and Italian dressing that they’re known as "boats."

The menu features meatballs and cheese, Italian sausage, hot pastrami, roast beef dip, pastrami dip, and Italian roast beef with sautéed bell peppers. Their signature sandwich is Joe's Philly cheese steak with filet mignon, cheese, mushrooms bell peppers, and onions. Sandwiches come in two sizes.
