Common Sense Tips Every Renter Should Follow

As a renter, it's important to use best practices when you're planning on signing a new lease. Before you sign on the dotted line, review these common sense tips to ensure that all goes smoothly, and your rights are protected.

Read The Lease
A lease is a contract between you and your landlord. That means it outlines what you should expect from your landlord, and what your landlord should expect from you. Details like who's responsible for what utilities, whether you can have a pet (and whether it'll require a deposit), and even whether you can paint the walls are all typically specified in a well-written lease.

Be Gentle On The Space
Maybe that adage about nobody ever washing a rental car is true, but in the case of an apartment rental, it's worthwhile for you to treat the space gently. You've likely put down a security deposit in case of any damages, and you may also want to use your landlord as a reference when you're seeking a future apartment.

Be Nice To Neighbors
Apartment living means sharing a space, even if you technically live alone. You've probably got neighbors living above, below, and around you, and they may not take too kindly to excessive noise. Treat them like you'd like to be treated!

The yokai berry is a refreshing dish with salmon, kale, and Asian pears. Regulars enjoy the creative rolls like the Ham & Eggs with katsu pork belly, yolk custard, and espellette, the Bond with avocado, sun-dries tomato, gobo, and soy paper, the Pitchfork with wagyu beef, leek crisp, avocado, and yuzu kosho, and the Shag tempura roll with salmon, avocado, and sun-dried tomato. Vinoteca Poscol is the place to go for classic Italian food, complemented by a great selection of wines. Located near Cherryhurst Park, Vinoteca Poscol is actually named after the chef’s hometown street. When you come in, you’ll like the subdued décor and quiet ambiance. Folks rave about the service, too. The chef makes all of his “small plates” with specific wines in mind, so ask your server for recommendations. There’s a great selection of cheese and meat trays, finger sandwiches, flatbreads, pastas and risottos to enjoy and share. What a great place to go for happy hour, dinner or a late night bite!

Tips For Moving-In Together

If you and your significant other are planning on moving in together, it can be a big step. If you're used to living on your own, or if you've never lived with someone, it can be a big change. But, if you keep these suggestions in mind, you're transition into creating a unified home will be a much smoother one!

Plan Chores
Not many people love housework, but it's important to keep up with routine chores and home maintenance. Prior to moving in together, a couple should talk a little bit about how they're going to divide basic household chores, and even consider whether they might have different expectations for tidiness.

Decorate Together
If you've lived in your own places before, you've each probably acquired lots of stuff to decorate your apartment. Moving in together means negotiating how to decorate a shared space, and even acquiring some new decorations together.

Discuss Money
It's not the most romantic thing to talk about, but discussing money matters upfront can establish clear expectations for things like how to split shared household bills, how you'll pay rent, and how you'll split paying for necessities like food, toothpaste, furniture, and more.
