Gulfstream Park: By the Sea in Boynton Beach

Florida has no shortage of beachfront real estate, but one of the all-around best places to enjoy the ocean in Boynton Beach is at Gulfstream Park. This 6 acre public park offers a wide range of activities to keep visitors busy. 600 feet of beach frontage is monitored by lifeguards, making it popular for families and swimmers.

Outside of the guarded swimming areas, fishermen and surfers ply their trade on the comfortable waves. There’s also a lot of green space to enjoy, including a picnic area with BBQ grills and a playground for the little ones. One thing to know before you head out is that the parking lot is quite small and it’s a bit of a hike to the beach, so if you don’t show up early enough you might not be able to get a parking spot. Regulars like that the beach is less crowded as a result, though.

Alco Capital Theaters: See Blockbuster Films on a Budget

If you’re looking for a great bargain in entertainment, grab some spare change and head down to the Alco Capital Theaters in Boynton Beach. This value-priced theater has been pleasing patrons for years with surprisingly well-kept facilities at a very reasonable cost. Regular ticket prices are just $8.50, but the real bargains come with matinees: Shows before 4 p.m. are just $6, and pre-noon shows are a seriously cheap $5.50. Despite the very reasonable prices, the screenings are rarely crowded, making for a much more comfortable and relaxing movie experience.

The projection quality is also fairly high, and movies on offer are first-run, not old flicks that have been out in theaters for some time. They also have one auditorium prepared for 3D screening. Some complain that the popcorn at the concession stands can be a bit stale, but you can always bring your own snacks if that’s an issue!

With the steady flow of people relocating to Florida to enjoy the climate and easy living, antique stores in the state have an excellent supply of items. If you’re interested in delving into the past to see what you can discover, a trip to the Boynton Beach Antique Mall should be on your agenda.

From the outside, the place may not look like much – a nondescript building with black-shaded windows – but once you step inside you’ll be dazzled by the incredible selection of antiques within. Over 100 vendors call this place home, each with their own showcases and display areas. Because not all of the vendors are present at any given time, the full-time staff is capable of discussing most but not all of the items for sale. Prices in general are very reasonable. Locals flock here for great selections of furniture, jewelry and vintage clothing.

Rather than picking a pre-made yogurt with ingredients decided by the company, customers choose one of the 12 flavors of yogurt and add toppings themselves. Mouth-watering flavors include Chocolate and Vanilla alongside adventurous flavors, like Red Velvet and Cake. Go Yo! always has sugar- and fat-free frozen yogurt flavors “on tap,” and some are dairy-free.

There are over 40 different kinds of toppings to choose from, including healthier choices like fruits, nuts, and cereals. Of course, there is candy, too. Price is determined by weight, which is good to keep in mind when you’re piling on the toppings!

With a wide variety of shops — some can’t be found at other local malls — Boynton Beach Mall has everything larger malls have to offer and more, while being close to home. Despite being smaller than other malls in the area, Boynton Beach Mall has many different shops to choose from, including department stores like Macy's and JCPenney, clothing stores like Express and NY & Company, specialty stores like Bath & Body Works and Yankee Candle, and more unique stores, like Nativa and Rue 21.

Kids will love the area filled with children’s rides, including a train that travels through the mall. It’s rarely very crowded here, which makes shopping much more relaxing. The food court offers quick bites, and there are plenty of sit-down restaurants surrounding the mall for a more substantial meal.

Due South Brewing: Craft Brewing Done Right

Everyone is doing craft beer these days but very few breweries stand out like Due South Brewing. In addition to the standard beer flavors Due South goes out on a limb by incorporating such sweet tastes as chocolate and vanilla into its delicious recipes. One such beer is inspired by a popular chocolate candy and is features hints of caramel and chocolate goodness. Honey vanilla wheat is a refreshing, low key way to enjoy Due South, while the Scotch ale has a more substantial taste. Due South even includes a taproom where you can enjoy its fabulous selection of beer while taking in a game on the big screen. Unfortunately food isn't available, but you are provided with a list of nearby eateries and bringing outside items to the taproom is perfectly fine. Happy hour is from four to six where all Due South beers are a dollar off.
