Happy Winter!

As sweater weather approaches we hope you all stay warm and cozy this season! What are some of your favorite winter activities?

Children’s Museum of Houston: Making Playtime an Adventure in Learning

The Children’s Museum of Houston is a fun-filled museum designed especially for the little ones, but that doesn’t mean adults won’t enjoy it, too. This self-described “playground for your mind” features a number of hands-on exhibits that teach kids about science and how the world works, and they’re always bright, colorful and tailored toward children.

The How Does it Work? exhibit, for example, is a room filled with a mishmash of smaller exhibits like the Communication Speedway that shows how messages travel through fiberoptic wires. The Science Station is a 3D model of many of the most important scientific concepts, while the Building Zone provides hours of construction fun for the smallest architects and builders. The fast-paced Cyberchase is a game that turns kids on to the mathematics involved in computer programming.

Perhaps best of all, the Children’s Museum of Houston offers affordable admission and ample parking outside.

Comforting Recipes for Cool Autumn Evenings

Now that fall weather is back, you likely have the urge to spend a whole lot more time in the kitchen. There are few things more relaxing than whipping up something warm and homemade on a chilly evening, and these fall-ready recipes are perfect for those cold nights at home at The Marq on Voss!

Double-Crust Chicken Pot Pie [myrecipes.com]
Everyone knows that the best part of any pie is the flaky crust, and this unique recipe offers twice the amount of crust. It’s filled with tender, boneless chicken breast, flavorful herbs and spices, and lots of fresh veggies, but it’s that extra-thick crust that really takes the cake — or, rather, the pie.

Beef and Barley Stew with Mushrooms [thekitchn.com]
Old-fashioned beef stew will likely make you reminiscent for family dinners as a child, but this updated recipe adds a gourmet touch to the tried-and-true classic. Because there’s a lot of room for substitutions and additions, this is a great one to try when you haven’t made it to the grocery store.

Fannie Farmer's Classic Baked Macaroni & Cheese [food.com]
If you’re the type of person who gets excited at the mere mention of mac and cheese, this baked version is a must-try this fall season. Plus, adding a crispy breadcrumb crust on top makes this decadent dish even more delicious.

Happy Thanksgiving!

We hope everyone has a wonderful day celebrating with family and friends! What are you thankful for this year?

Feast on the Rancor Burger at Petrol Station

The ingredients in Petrol Station's Rancor burger can barely be contained by a bun. Its juicy Angus chuck patty sports a gooey layer of cheese, crispy strips of bacon, and a lone fried egg on top. The smorgasbord of fresh ingredients has won the Rancor burger a legion of fans among Yelp reviewers—about 50 of them make mention of this popular sandwich.

Burgers may be the main event at Petrol Station, but they're in close competition with the list of craft beers. Depending on what's on tap, you might be able to try the 512 Pecan Porter, described as "dark and smooth" by one drinker, or the light and frosty Bombshell Blonde. If you'd like lighter fare to nibble on with your drink, opt for the "Hummus Amongus" with fresh veggies and pita or the heirloom tomatoes with balls of mozzarella cheese.
