This free public park is one of the most popular in town, due in large part to its beautiful pond and gorgeous views. The pond is fully stocked with fish for area fishermen and women to enjoy, while the well-maintained jogging trail that surrounds the pond offers a cool breeze perfect for your nightly run. The large playground and picnic areas make great spots for your weekend afternoons with the family, and the miniature golf course is a fun place to get competitive if your kids are a bit older. The free fitness center is stocked with both cardio and strength equipment that will give you a great workout at no cost, and there is even an indoor pool for Harris County residents to enjoy.

Mary Jo Peckham Park is a beautiful 32-acre park located in Katy. The park features a jogging trail, fishing pond, playground, mini golf, a covered barbecue pavilion (be sure to call to reserve a spot), picnic benches, outdoor restrooms, tennis and basketball courts, and softball and baseball fields. The community center includes a swimming pool, locker rooms, and a gym, complete with all the essential exercise equipment like cardio equipment, weight machines, free weights, and exercise mats.

Like the rest of the park, admission to the gym is free, but you must present a membership card and sign at the front desk before working out. The gym may be free and public, but that doesn’t mean it’s not clean. There are strict sanitary guidelines as well as constant maintenance by the staff and regulars abide by the “culture of clean” rules.

Spend a nice day enjoying the weather at Mary Jo Peckham Park. This wonderful park in Katy is a great spot to bring the kids to work off some energy on the playground complete with swings and some bouncy toys. Get some exercise with a jog around the lake on the trails or just enjoy the scenic view while feeding the ducks. One trail is designated for running and one is for walking. Harris county residents can use the gym for free. The gym has a mix of machines, cardio equipment, and workout classes. There is also an indoor pool, sports fields, gazebo, fishing pier, and mini golf course. Feel free to bring your lunch to the picnic area. If you want to have an outdoor cookout just call to reserve the pavilion with grills. Mary Jo Peckham Park is open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.
