Golden Key Chinese Restaurant: Norristown Chinese Cuisine

It can be really hard to judge a Chinese restaurant from the outside – some of the least impressive visually are the ones that knock out the most delicious and authentic meals. Norristown’s Golden Key is a perfect example – it doesn’t look like much, nestled in a small space in Norristown, but the food is exceptional. The restaurant has been in business since 1989, winning the praise of generations of residents. The menu is full of the traditional offerings, with some favorites being the sesame chicken, which is a perfect combination of sweet and savory, as well as the tender pepper beef. Egg rolls are also quite good, fried to toothsome deliciousness. It’s also possible to just make a meal out of appetizers, with the scallion pancakes and wonton soup very popular. Prices are incredibly reasonable, especially for the lunch specials.

Euro Delights: Desserts, Sandwiches and More

Euro Delights offers fresh, house-made desserts, Sunday brunch, and lunch items in a rustic setting. For lunch, regulars recommend the grilled chicken panini, which includes tomato, basil, and mozzarella with a drizzle of balsamic vinaigrette on a brioche panini with a side of house-made potato chips. The margarita flat bread pizza also gets two thumbs up from frequent guests.

The star of the show, however, is the selection of baked goods. Euro Delights' most popular desserts are the four-layer carrot cake with delicious cream cheese frosting. single-serve apple pies, and the chocolate mousse, layered with a berry mixture and topped with fresh whipped cream. For Sunday brunch, you can't go wrong with the Belgian waffles, French toast, or Finnish crepes.

Sip a Beer Flight at Round Guys Brewing Company

Conveniently located just down the street from the Lansdale SEPTA station, Round Guys Brewing Company is the work of old friends Scott Rudich and Rich DiLiberto, who founded the business in 2012. Within months they began supplying beer to bars and taverns all over the region, and eventually opened their own brewpub in Lansdale.

The food menu offers inventive twists on standard pub fare (chicken dip, house-made chili, nachos, and sandwiches) but beer is the main attraction at this place. There are more than a dozen different options on tap, with alternatives ready in casks. Most of the beer will be Round Guys originals, like the popular "Kiss Off IPA," the crisp, fresh "Lansdale Lager," and the dessert-like "Uncle Ebeneezer" coffee-based stout, but there are always a few taps featuring beer from other craft brewers. Ask your bartender for a recommendation, or better yet, try a flight of beers to see what you like!
