What’s Your Favorite Sushi Roll at Umai?

Tucked inside a shopping plaza just around the corner from the Pennbrook train station, Umai gives Lansdale locals a quality sushi bar at reasonable prices. When you walk in the front door of this charming BYO, you will be immediately greeted by Chef Ray and the sights and sounds of East Asian cuisine.

If you visit during your lunch hour you'll be able to select from the beautifully arranged bento-style lunch boxes (salmon teriyaki and tempura udon are favorites among regulars) or a selection of sushi combo platters. For dinner, Yelp reviewers recommend the warming miso soup, spicy tuna tacos, and the seared scallops served over horseradish. Sushi lovers will be glad to know that the capable wait staff is glad to guide you through more than 20 a la cart sushi options in order to build your own custom sushi feast.

Umai is open Mondays through Saturdays. Lunch is served on weekdays.

Try Tropical Cocktails and Tasty Food at Bahama Breeze

Michelle Riesling wine and a splash of Myer's dark rum create a cocktail worth singing about—at least according to Bing Crosby and the other classic artists who covered Yaka Hula Hickey Dula​. The song's title also happens to be the name of a fruity Hawaiian drink that headlines the list of tropical cocktails at Bahama Breeze in King of Prussia. Just one of many Bahama Breeze locations on the East Coast, the KOP eatery fulfills tradition by serving delightful cocktails—and cuisine—during happy hour and dinner.

At the King of Prussia location, happy hour runs from 5 to 6 p.m. every weeknight, as well as 10 p.m. to closing time Sunday through Thursday. During those hours, you can grab a specialty cocktail like a Bahamarita for $4, a classic Jose Cuervo tequila cocktail for $3, and a pint of beer starting at $2. They come with half-priced apps that range from the tropical skillet-simmered jerk shrimp (a customer favorite) to all-American buttermilk-fried chicken sliders. Enjoy the cocktails and apps or stay for dinner to the tune of live music.

Alfredo’s Restaurant: A Norristown Favorite

Alfredo's Restaurant has been a Norristown institution for years, with generations of locals coming through the doors to enjoy top-notch breakfasts, lunches and dinners.

Many regulars rave that it’s the best breakfast in town for one reason: the breakfast pizza. This savory slice is a real winner. The burgers here are exceptional, with hand-formed patties and delicious toppings. Alfredo’s also offers up a great version of the “zep." If you’ve never had one, it’s a serious thing: a hoagie roll with salami, Provolone, raw onion and tomato, seasoned with oregano, olive oil, salt and pepper. They do it right. Sure, it’s not the healthiest food that you’ll ever eat in your life, but it's said to be very tasty!

Corropolese Bakery & Deli: Taste a Local Institution

If you have been to a party, reunion, reception or event in Norristown or parts surrounding, you have probably eaten a slice of Corropolese’s pizza. If you haven’t, either you showed up late to the party or the hosts weren’t locals! The signature square-cut pizzas at this local institution are the tomato pie, spinach pie, and bruschetta pizza. Pick up a quarter sheet (eight slices) on your way home from work, or a full sheet (30 slices) for the next group event or gathering you’re planning.

Aside from pizza, Corropolese bakes a variety of breads, rolls, and pastries for both wholesale and retail customers and also offers a full-service deli and hoagie counter. Regulars especially recommend the meatball and Italian hoagies and the house-made coleslaw. For those with a sweet tooth, Corropolese’s cakes, cookies, baklava, and cannoli all earn the praise of Montgomery County locals.

The Melting Pot: Fondue in King of Prussia

Check out The Melting Pot, a fun fondue eatery offering an interactive dining experience. For the uninitiated, fondue hails from Switzerland, where in its most basic form, it consists of a simmering pot of melted cheese placed on the table in which cubes of bread are dipped with a long fork.

The Melting Pot lets you choose from a variety of fondue options, including several types of cheeses, as well as oil, and broth for cooking little chunks of meat and veggies. Meat, poultry, vegetables, artisan bread and seafood are the choices for dipping. Don’t skip dessert, because few things are as delightfully decadent as fresh berries dipped in chocolate. An expansive wine selection, beer and cocktails are also available.
