On August 21st, the California Apartment Association held its 11th Annual Greater East Bay GEMM Awards ceremony at the Blackhawk Museum in Danville.

This event honors the ‘Best of the Best’ in the region’s rental housing industry. Castle Management was honored with four of these prestigious awards:

1) Castle Management was awarded with the Best ‘Public Affairs Program’. This award recognizes companies with programs designed to make an impact on public policy and/or demonstrates legislative/political advocacy for the rental housing industry.

Our Vice President, Joseph Lawton Jr., is very active with CAA at the state and local levels. During 2013 and 2014, he challenged all Castle Management’s property managers to think about their place in local and state governments. As a result, Castle Management sent a group of manager’s to meet and lobby the elected officials that represent our communities at the CAA Annual Legislative Conference in Sacramento. The issues at hand were anti-smoking laws in Pleasant Hill, potential rent control in Richmond, and an apartment unit tax in Antioch.

Look to Castle Management to make a difference in 2015.

2) Adam Pitzler won Best Regional Portfolio Manager for his work with his 13 apartment complexes scattered throughout Concord, Livermore, Walnut Creek, and Pittsburg. Thank you Adam for all you do.

3) Robert Boyd was recognized at the Best Maintenance Technician (201+ units) for his work at Sequoia Grove & Rose Garden Village Apartments in Danville, The Shutters Apartments in Walnut Creek, and Woodhaven Apartments in Concord. Thank you for all your hard work Bob.

4) Nancy Ackerman was honored as the Best Administrative Assistant for her work in Human Resources and Accounts Payable in the main office. Thank you Nancy for your contributions to the team.

5) Dana Svab (51-100 units) at Greentree Terrace Apartments in Concord, Sharon Katsuleres (100 + units) at Cowell Terrace Apartments in Concord & Tahoe Court Apartments in Walnut Creek and Jamie Wolcott (100 + units) at Viking Park Apartments in Pleasant Hill were finalists as Best Rental Community Managers. These women are some of the best in the business, and we are grateful to have them as part of our team.

Castle Management enjoyed a brilliant year in 2014 thanks to our talented and dedicated staff. We look forward to an even better 2015!
