Wood floors are a fantastic selling point. But they're expensive to install and tough to maintain.

Castle has found a solution. In certain properties we're installing a vinyl/linoleum floor covering that looks and feels like wood. They're tough, they withstand water, and they have the classic glamour that residents want.

We tell residents that it's not wood, of course. But most don't care. It's that good — a cost-effective solution that benefits them and their landlords.

Our landlords have insurance. Castle has insurance. If the roof blows off or a maintenance crew accidentally smashes a window, the loss is covered.

But our residents need their own policies. If, say, a pipe bursts and floods an apartment, we’re unable to replace damaged belongings. At lease signing we always tell new residents that renter’s insurance is vital.

There’s no way to make sure they get it, of course. But we make sure that residents know the possible consequences of going without it.
