On the Park: Toys and Candy for Children of All Ages

On the Park is a family-owned toy and candy store in Humble. Just a short distance from Harbor Cove, the store carries an assortment of old fashioned wooden toys as well as a variety of arts and crafts, dolls, books, stuffed animals, games and construction sets. These unique toys will keep children's minds and bodies active. It's no wonder that kids and adults alike love browsing through the store. On the Park also has a great chocolate and candy section with plenty of sugar-free options. The staff here is always helpful and happy to gift wrap all your purchases.

On the Park is open Mondays through Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sundays from noon to 5 p.m.

Old MacDonald’s Farm: Visit a Farm near Harbor Cove

Old MacDonald's Farm gives children (and adults!) the opportunity to interact with dozens of different animals. This 15 acre farm includes a petting zoo, pony rides, train rides and more. Fans love the diversity of animals in the petting zoo. Apart from the expected cows, goats, sheep and pigs, visitors will also have contact with deer, llamas, emus and a tortoise. If you want to feed the animals, you can purchase a bag of feed for a dollar. Otherwise, bring your own bread and feed the ducks in the pond. The farm also has plenty of picnic tables. Pack a lunch and make a day of it!

The hours at Old MacDonald's Farm vary with the seasons, so be sure to call before heading over from Harbor Cove.

Movie Tavern: Dinner and a Movie in Humble, Texas

Why go to dinner and then a movie, when you can do both at once at the Movie Tavern? The Movie Tavern in Humble, Texas features first-run movies and a terrific menu in a spot not far from Harbor Cove. In order to enjoy your experience more fully, it is suggested that you arrive 45 minutes before show time. Have your seat and take a look at the menu. There are lots of tasty appetizers, sandwiches, burgers, salads, and pizzas from which to choose. There’s a children’s menu but children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult. And servers are helpful and unobtrusive during the show. Just want to see the movie? You can do that too! Ordering food isn't necessary. Oh, and you can still get popcorn and candy. After a great meal, enjoy the show!

Jesse H. Jones Park and Nature Center: Acres and Acres of Nature

Located on the edge of Kenswick Forest, the Jesse H. Jones Park and Nature Center is 300 acres of fun and education for the whole family, in a spot not far from Harbor Cove. Hikers will love the six miles of trails in the park. The newest trail is 1.5 miles long, and accessible to bicyclists. While enjoying your hike, you can also learn a lot about the native plants and wildlife that surrounds you, thanks to the signage on the trails. Canoeists can call a day ahead to enjoy launching on to Spring Creek. What a great way to see the park’s beauty! If you’re in the mood for a picnic, there are plenty of tables at the pavilion, some with barbeque grills which are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. The outdoor pavilion can also be reserved for groups. There are also lots of great events at the park, year round!
